The latest skin tips for active people. A report earlier this year that suggested sunscreen doesn't protect against cancer was misinterpreted, says an assistant professor of dermatology. Sunscreen is still the skin's best defense - but it shouldn't fool you into believing you can stay out in the sun all day. Here are some tips to care fo summer skin:
Athletes:Use 'sport' sunscreen formulations. When you're biking you don't want the suncreen to run into your eyes and sting. These don't sweat off.
Swimmers:Reapply waterproof suncreen after swimming or surfing. Cover your lips. Men get lip cancer seven times more often than women, simply because women use some kind of lip product more often.
Young People:Most sun damage happens in youth, so kids, teens and young adults should have the most focus on protection.
Kids:Do not use sunscreens with fragrance on children; this can lead to bee stings.
