The Florida Aquarium - 701 Channelside Dr., Tampa (formerly 13th St.) See "Dragons Down Under":exhibit with sea dragons, sea horses, pipefish and trumpetfish. Now Open. " Back to School Family Sun Fest". 28 August 1999, 9:30am - 5pm. Activities include face painting and rock climbing. Admission $5. - all day. Grandparents Day - 11-12 September - Free admission to Grandparents accompanied by a grandchild, or who presnets a photo of themselves pictured with a grandchild.
Ybor City State Museum - focuses on the city's historic cigar industry, concentrated in the colorful community of Ybor City on the northeast edge of downtown.
Ybor City's Seventh Avenue on a Saturday Night - vendors hawking cigars, street performers tumbling and dancing to drummer. Masses of young people take over the street every weekend.
Tampa Theatre - a great old movie palace.
Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks - Greek community, located approximately 30 miles north of St. Petersburg. Active sponge harvesting.

The Museum of Science and Industry - includes an exhibit which simulates the force of a hurricane.
