Angel Flight Southeast
AFSE is a volunteer pilot organization, which assists patients to overcome their transportation obstacles in obtaining specialized or experimental medical treatment at distant locations. AFSE prefers that requests on behalf of patients come from physicians, discharge planners or other health care professionals who are in a position to verify a patient's financial need and medical suitability to fly. Requests come from healthcare providers at major medical facilities in the southeast and a wide variety of other organizations.
This is a free service offered to those in financial distress or are unable to travel on public transportation. This is not an air ambulance service. The patients assisted are traveling for scheduled treatments and surgery. The treatment they are seeking must be conventional or authorized investigation protocols that are not available locally. Some exceptions are flights for organ recipients and last-wish organizations.
AFSE is a group of pilots and non-pilot volunteers dedicated to serving patients and health care providers in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Mississippi. Regional Headquaarters is located in Leesburg, FL. The number to call for additional information is 352/326-0761, or, e-mail: angelse@mediaone.net.
